Shore Dogs Park Redwood Shores

February 3, 2011

This is a great park… especially since you don’t have to have a leash to have your dog there. Shore Dogs Park is a completely fenced “off leash” dog park with a double-gated entrance to an area for large dogs and another area for small dogs. Benches, drinking water for dogs and doggie waste bags and dispensers are available. Shore Dogs is open for use from dawn until dark. During the rainy season, however, be advised that the park is subject to closure without prior notice at the discretion of the Park and Recreation Department and the Shore Dogs Board.

For information on closure due to rain call 650-654-6538.

Shore Dogs is located near the end of Radio Road in Redwood Shores, California, near a corner of San Francisco Bay, where during the spring and fall migration season, you can watch the shore birds.

San Carlos First Holiday Happenings

December 4, 2010

Tonight was a great evening, the weather was great. I was amazed at home many children we had. The best part was the train ride, the line must have been a 2 hour wait. But, it was worth it, the train was all decked out in lights and the kids loved it as well as us adults. The street was closed and everyone had a great time. One plus was the West Bay Community Band. They were great! And, yes they will be playing tomorrow to welcome Santa‘s Sleigh in town. Let’s hope it doesn’t rain on them. Another plus was the monkey man, the kids just loved the monkey who took a penny and put it in his bucket… Another plus was the “Snowman”,  he was  one of the friendliest that I have seen and most kids seem to love taking their pictures with him, or the parent’s did at least.

The snow came later with the lighting show, what a great ending to a wonderful evening. Thanks to the workers of the SC Community Center and all the volunteers who made this happen and our finest police force.

BILL GATES SPEECH: 11 RULES YOUR KIDS DID NOT AND WILL NOT LEARN IN SCHOOL

September 7, 2010

NEW YORK - SEPTEMBER 26: Rock band Forever Th...

Written by Kent Summers on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 5:34am.

I thought this was really well written, since all of our children are in the process of just starting school or having gone back… Very well written….
Rule 1: Life is not fair – get used to it!

Rule 2: The world doesn’t care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they’ll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you’ll end up working for one
