Filoli Jazz For The Summer!

June 6, 2010

Come to Jazz at Filoli and celebrate their 20th season

One of my favorite summer events, is enjoy being at Filoli. They have once again they bring you six delightful Sunday afternoon jazz concerts that are  held outdoors on the beautiful grounds of Filoli. Tables and chairs are set up on the tennis court surrounded by graceful oak trees. Parking is free and complimentary snacks and drinks, including beer and white wine are served. Boxed lunches are available for purchase in advance. As always, they feature an incredibly strong line-up of world-class jazz musicians. This season features a great many new faces, and highlights a jazzy balance of three strong male and three strong female entertainers. Let us pamper you with Filoli hospitality and great entertainment! Concerts are Sunday afternoons from 1:30 pm –4:00 pm.

I have to tell you though, they do sell out fast… So, book early! See you there!

Memorial Day Music at the Alpine Inn, Historical Beer Garden

May 31, 2010

I went over to hear the music from a few bands at the Alpine Inn to welcome in the beginning of summer, or so we think!!! One of my friends, Bill Collins was joining the band with his harmonica. He is really good and enjoys playing with them. With the beautiful weather we are having this is a great weekend to go over there and enjoy the weather, friends and a beer or hamburger! Tell Geri and Molly “Hi” from me.

Happy Memorial Day!

First Night Tomorrow…Hot Harvest Nights in San Carlos

May 5, 2010

Every Thursday night, May 6th through September 9th, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Sponsored by the City of San Carlos and the San Carlos Chamber of Commerce. Hot Harvest Nights features certified produce and specialty foods, musical entertainment and walk-away food.  Stores throughout San Carlos’ acclaimed downtown will be open for your exploration and enjoyment.  Bring the entire family to enjoy this popular annual event.

The market will feature 50 to 60 booths set up in the middle of the street which will be closed to traffic.

Hot Harvest Nights will feature produce, flowers, music, food, artists – something for everyone.

This will be a chance to stroll, meet your friends and have a leisurely night enjoying the finest San Carlos has to offer. Shops and restaurants on Laurel Street will stay open late for this all-community activity. Don’t miss out!

Also returning will be a booth where you can meet members of the City Council and a City Department Head.  The Meet the City Officials booth will be available on the first Thursday of each month from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm. As always, we invite you to enjoy Hot Harvest Nights and also to stop by the City booth and meet the City officials.

On May 6th, visit the City Booth where Public Works Director Robert Weil, City Council Member Omar Ahmad and Outreach Consultant Mike Garvey will answer questions about the proposed High Speed Rail project on San Carlos.

Live New Orleans Piano Jazz
Tonight!
 Thursday September 10
 7:00 – 10:30

macy

Hearing Macy Blackman is like stepping into an uptown New Orleans club such as the Dew Drop Inn circa 1955. Indeed pianist/vocalist Macy Blackman has been playing this music since it really wasn’t very old.

Local wisdom is that “if the band doesn’t move your feet, it’s amazing you got here at all.”

Mention this email when joining us tonight and all Cocktails, Beers & Wines by the Glass are Half Off!
