Gas Line Review in San Carlos
November 19, 2010
PG&E Completes Review of Gas Line in San Carlos; Community Meeting Upcoming
On Tuesday, October 26th, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) announced that it has completed its investigation of the 105-foot segment of high-pressure gas transmission line located on Brittan Avenue in the vicinity of El Camino Real in San Carlos.
The segment had been ranked on PG&E’s top 100 highest risk gas transmission pipelines because of engineering concerns about the materials used for construction.
PG&E stated that they have completed their investigation and resolved their concerns. The segment has been removed from PG&E’s top 100 highest risk gas pipelines list.
The City’s Public Works Department is now planning a community meeting with PG&E to be held in mid-November to answer resident questions and concerns. More details on the community meeting will be announced once the meeting has been finalized.
Recycling Grease for Thanksgiving?
November 10, 2010

I found this great site from the California Association of Realtors site….Recycling cooking grease, especially if you’re a fan of those giant turkey fryers, is a better option than clogging sinks and sewers. One use for the goo is powering biodiesel vehicles. Type in “cooking oils” at www.earth911.com to find recycling centers. it is a great site for many other choices for recycling the “hard” stuff.

Sequoia Update on New Gymansium
July 20, 2010
I was at Sequoia, viewing the new gymansium that is being built. Construction started in Janurary.
The new gym will feature a tournament basketball court, a tournament volleyball court, two practice basketball courts and 16 badminton courts as well as dressing rooms and an area for food concessions and booster sales.
The new facility has been designed to qualify for certification as a LEED Gold Building, one of the highest nationally recognized sustainability standards for green design.
Saving more than 50 percent of the baseline energy costs of current California energy standards, the new building will be constructed with wood products from renewable forests, a high-efficiency HVAC system supplemented with natural ventilation, and a groundwater system that utilizes redirected storm water. Wherever possible, rapidly renewable or recycled materials will be chosen over conventional alternatives.
A prominent skylight – running the full length of the main gymnasium – will flood the main space with indirect natural light during the day, resulting in a significant reduction in energy consumption year-round. The entire sloped roofing system will be lined with a direct-applied photovoltaic film that will generate over 50 percent of the energy consumed by the building.
The project also includes two athletic plazas, a 200-square-foot ticket kiosk, and a new front entrance onto James Avenue. The school’s two existing gyms will also be refurbished as part of the project.
Cody Anderson Wasney Architects, Palo Alto, is the architectural firm spearheading the project, and W. L. Butler Construction, Inc., Redwood City, is the general contractor. Awesome!
Music at Hot Harvest Nights
July 9, 2010
Hot Harvest Nights has music every Thursday evening. I had the opportunity to do something that I think resemblances dancing with a lovely lady. It was probably better for me then for her.
After the dancing, some fresh fruit and veggie shopping at our Laurel Street Market….
Lots of family, children and all having a great time and visiting all the folks. Beautiful weather is finally here, I thought we forgot about summer this year. I had an awesome snack at Piacere’s Restaurant. Awesome and yummy…..

Check out this video, it is awesome. Really worth watching. Stay safe tomorrow and enjoy the fireworks if you have them. Some of our bay area cities aren’t having them this year because of the cut backs. Enjoy!
