Beer Friday

July 5, 2010

I just discovered Devil’s Canyon Brewery in Belmont on Industrial. They make beer but also make great root beer as well. Beer Friday is family friendly. You can bring your kids. You can bring your pet. They  have catered food available so no need to bring food or drinks.

Devil’s Canyon Brewery is a brewery and is generally not open to the public. We sell our beer to bars and restaurants up and down the peninsula.

However, on the last Friday of the month we open our doors to the public at 6pm. There is no cover charge. Your first drink of the night is $8.00. You get to keep the Devil’s Canyon pint glass. After that, drinks are $4.00. Wine, Soda and water are also available.

We typically have at least 2 bands. If you are registered on the website you will receive a monthly email, usually the week of Beer Friday letting you know who is playing and what’s going on. Otherwise, We post the bands on the website a day or two before Beer Friday. Want to know more information about one of the bands that have played at the brewery? We now have a complete listing and will continue to update the list online as we bring in new talent.

We do not advertise. If you are at Beer Friday you are probably a friend of a friend. We like it that way.

See you there!

Memorial Day Music at the Alpine Inn, Historical Beer Garden

May 31, 2010

I went over to hear the music from a few bands at the Alpine Inn to welcome in the beginning of summer, or so we think!!! One of my friends, Bill Collins was joining the band with his harmonica. He is really good and enjoys playing with them. With the beautiful weather we are having this is a great weekend to go over there and enjoy the weather, friends and a beer or hamburger! Tell Geri and Molly “Hi” from me.

Happy Memorial Day!

Angelica’s Bistro, Mother’s Day Ideas

May 8, 2010

One of my favorite places is Angelica’s. Another good spot for Mother’s Day. Check out all their other venues…. If you are still in need of Mother’s Day reservations, give them a call. I put down their information for you.

image If you’re looking for a truly unique dining experience, one that is unlike any on this continent, the place is Angelica’s Bistro. Quietly nestled in the back of one of the area’s most impressive antique emporiums, Angelica’s Bistro feels like it has been here since the 18th Century. But in fact it is the latest endeavor by entrepreneurs Peter and Angelica Cuschieri.Sit in the cozy alcoves and listen to live romantic music as you enjoy your meal. Or lean at the large counter and order your unique micro-brew beer. Or if you prefer, sit in the garden among dozens of gorgeous fountains and sculptures taking in the Redwood City sunshine on your afternoon tea.

While the surroundings are a delight, you’ll find Angleica’s Bistro is first and foremost about the food and drink. Come and enjoy!

The Road To The Alpine Inn, My Favorite Historical Place

January 22, 2010

My favorite place of all is to relax and meet friends at the Alpine Inn, formerly called Rissotti’s or “Zott’s”…

Of course, I am partial since my dear friend and my other dear Mother own the place. But, if you just want a beer/wine/soft drink it is a great place to just be yourself and hang-out. If you want a great burger, chicken or other this is the place. The fries are great too! This is why this place is on my main page as one of the historical homes that I love. You can  just imagine as you drive up, the horses that used to come and tie up there… I have met many wonderful people there.

As of 2009, Zotts has enjoyed 150 years as Portola Valley’s hotspot…

A lot of history has passed through here… Zott’s is unique, it is the only Beergarden that has stayed one since it’s existence.
