San Carlos Up-Coming Storm
December 15, 2010
The city of San Carlos has posted this for the upcoming storm. If anyone needs help getting the sand bags, please let me know and I will arrange getting them for you. Very important for our seniors in our area.
The National Weather Service has issued a heavy storm warning for Friday and this weekend for the San Francisco Bay Area. The City is making sand, sandbags and a shovel available starting today for San Carlos residents and merchants. There is a limit of ten (10) bags per residence/ business.
The Sand and Sandbag distribution point in San Carlos is the open parking lot at the San Carlos Corporation Yard at 1000 Bransten Road. This area will be open on a 24 hours a day basis, 7 days a week.
Questions can be directed to the General Services Department at (650) 802-4140 or Public Works Department (650) 802-4204 during business hours. After hours emergencies should be reported to Police Dispatch at (650) 802-4321.
If your property has a history of flooding or standing water each year (such as water building up at the garage or back patio for example), you are encouraged to get sandbags in advance of the rainy season and have them on hand throughout the winter.
In addition, the Public Works Department is checking catch basins and City crews have been assigned to storm duty to check the creeks and hot spots.

Sequoia Hospital Wins Cardiac Care
July 21, 2010

- Image via Wikipedia
We are very fortunate to live in the Bay Area with one of the best hospitals around..
“Sequoia Hospital‘s Heart and Vascular Institute is one of the predominate referral centers for the most complex cardiac cases in California because of our outstanding clinical outcomes,” said Glenna Vaskelis, President and CEO. “Our cardiac surgeons have national reputations for superior results. When combined with our experienced nurses and staff, our patients and community benefit.”
“Heart operations are inherently dangerous and reserved for those who truly require them. These results are the product of an outstanding team, and we take tremendous pride in this achievement,” said Dr. Luis Castro of Pacific Coast Cardiac and Vascular Surgeons. “We have better survival results than most renowned heart centers around the country and world, and we are able to achieve these results using minimally invasive techniques in the vast majority of patients.”
Music at Hot Harvest Nights
July 9, 2010
Hot Harvest Nights has music every Thursday evening. I had the opportunity to do something that I think resemblances dancing with a lovely lady. It was probably better for me then for her.
After the dancing, some fresh fruit and veggie shopping at our Laurel Street Market….
Lots of family, children and all having a great time and visiting all the folks. Beautiful weather is finally here, I thought we forgot about summer this year. I had an awesome snack at Piacere’s Restaurant. Awesome and yummy…..
July 4th, Los Trancos Woods Marching Band at Friends Barbecue
July 7, 2010
I hope everyone had a great July 4th with family and friends. I would like to share a couple short videos of the group, they are awesome. My Mom’s favorite people and band.
They are always looking for new members:
Just a bit of history….On January 1, 1960, several residents of Los Trancos Woods Circle formed the Los Trancos Woods Community Marching Band. After their debut parade around “The Circle,” they continued to participate in parades around the San Francisco Bay Area, growing in number through the years. They have won many awards for their performances in such events as the Redwood City, California 4th of July Parades, San Francisco St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and the Castroville Artichoke Festival. And, have since grown to a bigger group.
What you see here are a few members enjoying the hospitality of their friends backyard or should I say front yard of David and Elyane Larimer. Thanks to their hospitality, I was able to enjoy being there as well. And, enjoyed a fabulous barbecue as well.
Senior’s Saint Patricks Luncheon
March 9, 2010
St. Matthias, 1685 Cordilleras Road in Redwood City, is having a luncheon for the Senior’s in the area as well as St. Mathias. Please call: ph: 650-366-9544 for more information. Saturday 3-5 before the 5 o’clock Mass.
Is the Shamrock the National Flower of Ireland ?’ The reason is that St. Patrick used it to explain the Holy Trinity to the pagans. Saint Patrick is believed to have been born in the late fourth century, and is often confused with Palladius, a bishop who was sent by Pope Celestine in 431 to be the first bishop to the Irish believers in Christ.
Life in Redwood City, Awesome
March 5, 2010
I know this is a little dark, but I did not want to interrupt the GAME. This has reminded me of being in Europe and the population taking time to enjoy someone else’s company and enjoy a game at the same time. Let”s see who wins. Awesome, isn’t it?…
Nice to have that kind of friend when you are young or old… Redwood City at the Court House. What a better place to be with great weather.

Some Thoughts from Thomas Jefferson
February 13, 2010
OK, I know I don’t normally do this. But, with the times we are all in, it is good to get us all back to basics. Thomas Jefferson always said he was, “A Virginian by birth and principle”. It just amazes me that what was said in the 1800′s we are experiencing today.
