Thank You for All the Birthday Wishes

January 28, 2012

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to thank all of you for your wonderful birthday wishes for me today. What an awesome day. My friends always have a way of surprising me. I have 2 neighbors that share my birthday, one is Jane Cotter (6th grade) and the other was my dear neighbor, Lee Merritt who passed away and we had his birthday and his celebration of life today (94).

When I returned home I spotted some balloons on my front porch from a dear neighbor. I am so blessed to live in such a great neighborhood. Thank you all!

My daughter took me out to dinner at the Melting Pot in San Mateo. I have never been there before and she had a couple of times and really liked it. A few months ago I mentioned that it would be fun to go there sometime and we did this evening. What a great time us girls had. Who would have thought that hours later you would be leaving the restaurant. The staff was great too!

San Carlos New Eatery Bair Island Tap & Eatery

September 29, 2011

Hi everyone, I have been busy taking care of some Mom issues…. I am of that sandwich generation. I am glad to be back. And, while coming back… this new restaurant opened on Laurel Street in San Carlos….Seems like remodeling a restaurant is every bit as frustrating as having work done at home. Things happen.

Bair Island (formerly Laurel Kabob) – set to open two weeks ago – hit some snags when key deliveries didn’t make it on time, etc.

So today, “is the day!!!!” says owner Charles Evans.

The menu won’t be totally complete for its debut. Evans says they’ll have: four different kinds of sausages, pulled pork, several fresh salads, cole slaw, condiments (relishes and mustards), eight beers on tap and wine to come soon.

For a background story on Bair Island, click here. Located at 635 Laurel Street in San Carlos.. Sounds like another winner! Go San Carlos…..

Grand Opening of In-N-Out Burger Today

June 16, 2011

In-N-Out Burger sign in Norwalk, California.

Hi everyone, the grand opening of In-N-Out Burger is today. They open at 10:30 for those that can’t wait for a mid-morning burger delight.

The burger chain, which has been welcomed some with delight, while protested and disliked by others in San Carlos has opened.

The restaurant is located on the corner of Holly St. and Industrial. I wonder if it will cause a traffic jam.

Enjoy your burger or shake.

Wine Bar in San Carlos

December 16, 2010

Great find! Great staff….great variety of wines. I love the fact that it seems to be a nice friendly neighborhood vibe to it.  A lot of bars/wine bars in SF are more of a pick up scene or places to show off what your latest fashion buy has been.  At Flight Lounge, totally relaxed and that’s what we needed.

I loved the South African Pinotage – I have not had that type of wine before and it was a great find.  Bought a bottle as a gift as well!

New Restaurant The Office in San Carlos

October 20, 2010

Previously known as Gateway Properties, The Office Bar & Grill has transformed the El Camino into a new Peninsula Hot Spot.  Whether your looking for somewhere to watch your favorite Bay Area sports teams on the big screen, or looking for a fun night out with friends and family, The Office is the place for you.  This San Carlos watering hole is unlike any other featuring a full size bocce ball court, custom fire pits, and live music to keep you entertained 7 nights a week!  More importantly The Office is already becoming a San Carlos favorite because of its delicious speciality bites like the  Redneck Taco, and thirst quenching cocktails like the Hot Receptionist.  All of this excitement packed into one amazing establishment will surely leave you satisfied and coming back for more!

The Office is a family owned restaurant that developed from a wet bar in Gateway Properties into one of the best new bars in San Carlos.  The owners Steve Hicks and Dave Parks have always seen the need for a quality new bar & grill on the peninsula and have now filled the void that many San Carlos natives have been feeling for years.  Both Steve and Dave strive to deliver the highest quality ingredients in all the food they prepare and the service they provide.  So come on in and try it for yourself. The Office owners and friendly staff guarantee you will leave happy! It has been a bit crowded because of the games and the big screen TV. A great place to meet friends.
