Oktoberfest in Redwood City yesterday.
October 16, 2011
Yesterday at the Redwood City “Oktoberfest” was a complete blast. The one thing that was especially fun was watching all the children dance the day away. Boy, if I could bottle up the constant energy. It was so much fun. I meet some friends there and I ended up spending most of the day just dancing and watching all the people. This was a great event for Redwood City. The band was stupendous!
The band was the Internationals, they have played for more than 30 years. They played all national music. The dancers from the Bavarian Club were outstanding.
For more information on the band visit the Internationals website.
Legendary Menlo-Atherton football coach Ben Parks dies.
September 25, 2011
Legendary Menlo-Atherton football coach Ben Parks dies – San Jose Mercury News. So sorry to hear the news of this great man. Imagine the hardship he endured as a child. He became such a great man because of his beliefs and honor. If you ask anyone in the high schools that have met him, he was a man of honor. He helped children with their sport, like no one else could. I was privileged to meet his son, another great man. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. I learned a lot from his son, who is also a player, but a life is an example and this family sure had a great one. Ben Parks Rest In Peace!
Super Diamond is here at the Fox!
August 19, 2011
I love Neil Diamond, probably because he was on my flight with TWA in the olden days. He was sitting in first class and un-be-know to me, he was/is an artist and painting a profile picture of me. He left it with me when he left the plane. Now, where in the world is that?
When your parents popped in a Neil Diamond tape on repeat during long interstate road trips, you reluctantly sang along. Never thought you’d turn out to be a Diamond fan now, right? But singing along to “Sweet Caroline” and “Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show” is so addictive now, you’d do anything to see Neil on stage. A band out of San Francisco can put a rest to that Diamond thirst. Super Diamond delivers a high-octane Diamond tribute show that rocks!

Mezesville Map from 1856 (RWC)
August 13, 2011
Town of Mezesville, which was the historically area from 1856. This photo is compliments of the Redwood City Redevelopment site.
This is the original town map as laid out by Simon Mezes. The basic street pattern is still there, although many of the street names have been changed. The creek was covered over during the mid 1900s.
It is interesting that until I did some research did I even hear about how Redwood City began and started with Mezesville. Very interesting!
